2nd April 1974.
Wishing a Very Happy Birthday, to ex City player, Alex Sykes. Alex had played nearly 300 games for our neighbours, Forest Green Rovers, scoring around 73 goals.
He moved to Gloucester City in 2006, he did have a loan spell with us the year before. During his time at Gloucester, he made around 160 appearances, scoring 60 goals.
He is now in football management, where he is currently the Assistant Manager at Evesham United.

AS - Ok lads, in the game today, whenever you get the ball in the centre circle, I want you to smash it into the top corner giving their keeper no chance. It's easy, remember every goal must be a screamer or they don't count.
£5 fine if you don't score

Is he coming to the Dorchester game?
Richard Digence was our game against them in 1995.

11th April 1980.
Wishing former City striker Jimmy Cox, a Very Happy Birthday. Jimmy was a favourite player of mine, he would take on the opposition. He formed a good strike partnership with Andy Hoskins.
Jimmy had 4 Spells with the Club, making 209 appearances, 36 as a substitute, and he scored 96 goals.

What a player! The type pf player that you're happy to pay money to watch play for your team.
Happy birthday Jim.

13th April 2002.
Halesowen Town 0 - 0 Gloucester City.
(Dr Martens League, Western Division)
Seeing this result, might suggest nothing to report here. But there was quite a bit riding on this match. A crowd of 777 was at the ground, Halesowen were already Promoted. A win in this game, would see them lift the Trophy.
But City Player / Manager Chris Burn's young side, had other ideas. They produced a fantastic defensive performance, to frustrate Halesowen.
The Trophy Celebrations had to wait for another day.

Halesowen could well go up this year. They were always side by side with us when we were in this league but we were so far ahead of them for the entirety of our stay in the National League system yet they could now become another team who will sit above us if we fail to get promoted.
