Our first season in exile playing at The New Lawn. Our home shirt was yellow and black playing at a ground whose teams home shirt was black and white. How things have changed. When I think of The New Lawn, I think of GCAFC's match against Shortwood United in the FA Cup.  Cry

RE: On this day - Andrew B - 25-11-2021

25th November 2003.

On this Date, GCAFC were at home to Evesham United in a Dr Martens League Western Division fixture. An entertaining game, played in front of a crowd of 253. The result was a 3 - 3 draw, with City's Andy Hoskins scoring a hatrick.

Sorry, my mistake. We DID NOT play Evesham United, IT WAS Gresley Rovers.

RE: On this day - Neil - 25-11-2021

25/11/1989 3-0 at home to Gravesend and Northfleet. David Mogg's home debut, we didn't see John Shaw again. This game was remarkable. It was far from as easy as the scoreline suggests. It was all Gravesend and we scored three goals.

25/11/1991 1-1 away at Barry in the league cup. A nasty atmosphere, we were walking out and a home fan was deliberately kicking at one of our fans ankles. Russ had a go at said fan. Not sure what became of it. It was Richard Congrave's second and final appearance for the club.

25/11/1995 5-1 v's Aldershot Town in the FA Trophy. They brought loads. We scored loads. A great occasion. An absolute travesty that there is no media on record from these times.

25/11/2017 & 2018 successive FA Trophy defeats to lower league sides. Chesham & Biggleswade. ****.

RE: On this day - Andrew B - 26-11-2021

26th November 2016.

Gloucester City AFC had an FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round match against AFC Fylde. City were at home, (C********m Town, Whaddon Road) and lost the match 3 - 2. Lewis Hall and Joe Parker were the goalscorers for City, played in front of a crowd of 240.
We also played AFC Fylde at home a month later in the National League North. We lost this match 5 - 1. Sam Avery scoring Gloucester's goal.

RE: On this day - Neil - 26-11-2021

James Harding had a last minute equaliser ruled out too.

RE: On this day - charlie - 26-11-2021

Utterly disgraceful performance from the referee with that incident at the end of the atrophy game, I really need to get over it.

The James Harding at Yate now?

I don't remember him at City for some reason. I remember Mitch Harding. Scored early in a glut of goals on his debut vs Stortford I think.

RE: On this day - Neil - 26-11-2021

Yep James is at Yate. Mitch only scored one. Someone said he packed in and moved (back) to London.

Funny how it goes. One kid from Bristol Rovers flatters to deceive whilst another looks like he could go to the very top.

RE: On this day - Andrew B - 27-11-2021

27th November 2021.

You might notice that today's date is shown above. Yes, today GCAFC are playing Kettering Town. This is an FA Trophy match, which is being played at New Meadow Park. Hoping for a good result today, with City through to the next round. You never know, this could be such a memorable match, that it might feature in 'On this Day' a year today. Keep a look out on 27th November 2022.
Something that people could do pre-match, is do what this woman did in the YouTube feature below. Kettering Town supporters could do this to get a taste of Gloucester. She goes to visit the Docks, and discovers that one of the warehouses caught fire in 1987. It was rebuilt using a lighter colour of brick. She also discovers the Beatrix Potter shop, on route to visiting Gloucester Cathedral.
Come on City, make today's Date memorable!!!

She doesn't visit Gloucester Rugby, guess that is just as well.

RE: On this day - Neil - 27-11-2021

27/11/93 - FA Trophy defeat at Dulwich Hamlet, we had chance after chance but still lost. There was trouble afterwards. I was safely tucked away on the coach. Mike Tuck stormed onto the coach, "Always Gloucester City fans" he said angrily.

27/11/99 - FA Trrophy defeat at Welling United. We got absolutely rinsed there. Two red cards, them in the Conference. The ref had to play long enough for them to get a winner. The angriest I've ever been after a City game.
