Interestingly we were away at Workington on his 20th birthday. He was too sick to make the trip up north.

I went to that game in Cumbria, in the mini bus that supporters had organised. Our ex Bristol Rovers loan goalkeeper Mike Greens family, were also on board.
Sat in the front was a man and woman from Cirencester. Never seen them before, they just randomly wanted to go. Judith and John were sat just behind them. Drakey was driving the mini bus.
We stopped off (I think) twice. We stopped at Kendal Services on the way up. Unsurprisingly, Kendal mint cake was sold at the Services. It was a good journey up.
An old school football ground, floodlight pylons etc. There is a rugby ground next to it.
Workington had some traveling to do in National League North. The nearest team they played, was Blyth Spartans.

Was that the trip where we fell out of the back of the minibus at services, and unbeknownst to us at the time, fractured poor Penno's leg!?

I believe it was, yes. Can remember Penno sat in the back. We left Gloucester at 8:30am? Think we first had to go back to where we got the minibus from, to have a different minibus?

28th January 2003.
Racing Club Warwick 1 - 6 Gloucester City.
(Dr Martens League, Western Division).
On this day in 2003, City made the trip to Warwickshire, for this league fixture. Player / Manager Chris Burn's team recorded a Brilliant result, in front of a crowd of 150.
The goals were scored by five different players. Striker Andy Hoskins scored two, his strike partner Jimmy Cox also scored a goal. As did converted right back Lee Smith, midfielder Chris Thompson, and central defender Neil Griffiths.
This was a good team performance. Gloucester City's next fixture to play, was an FA Trophy 4th Rd tie, at home to Vauxhall Conference side Woking.

This got me thinking about all of those Warwickshire-based clubs we used to play in the 90s when I started following City. Whatever happened to RC Warwick, Atherstone, Bedworth, VS Rugby, etc?

Racing Club Warwick finished bottom on 18 pts that season. Next club up in 21st position finished on 37 pts. RCW's GD was - 71. Currently lying 2nd in the United Counties League Premier Division South... Looking at the clubs in all divisions in the SL that season 2002/3 none of them have set the world alight since.

I felt besmirched when losing to some of those. We lost 1-7 at home to Bedworth!

Went to watch City play at Bedworth. City won 3 - 1, Matt Bath got Sent Off. Dave Wilkinson went in goal.
I drove up to the game. Got to the ground, drove through a gateway at the ground, the car park was behind the goal, if I remember correctly. You could watch the game from the car.

Yes and the home fans in their cars would honk their horn and flash their lights when they scored.
