Yep - we could all see it coming but hoped it would keep off.
Then just around half time it started. I was stood in the T-End and still got soaked. The only other rain I've encountered like that at football was around 2003 I think when I was living in Stockport and went to watch a midweek Cup match between Man City and Ipswich at Maine Road. With 20 mins to go the rain started and was so torrential that the pitch was flooded just 20 minutes into the game, and it was called off. While I got my money back from the game there was no chance with the local scallies who 'looked after my motor' for a couple of quid. At least I didn't need to take it to the carwash.
Swings and roundabouts.

10 years since our defeat to Orient in the FA Cup.
Still gutted we didn't hang on for another couple of minutes to earn a replay...

Story of our FA Cup not hanging on for the last few minutes!

Tuesday 26th November 2002.
Gloucester City 4 - 2 Taunton Town. (Dr Martens League, Western Division).
Gloucester City had a midweek league fixture at Meadow Park. A crowd of 165 came to watch Chris Burn's young team get a win against Taunton, which is just off the M5, Junction 25.
The Gloucester goals were spread out around the team, with Lee Smith (right back), Jimmy Cox (striker), Neil Griffiths (central defender), and Dave Wilkinson (midfielder) all on target.

165!!! Funny how fondly I look back at those times, the few supporters we had were so united and probably knew them all by name. The football wasn't great but winning more than you lose is still preferable to the drab campaigns we've had in this league over the years

Totally agree Lee 20 years later we average almost 10 times that many. Nostalgic days with a team of local players.

We were going absolutely nowhere then, there was a reason why only 165 people were interested.

I agree. Don’t go along with the “wasn’t it great when we were **** because I went to school with the left back” mentality (don’t mean anyone on this thread)
We’re a City of 160,000 people. We should have a good side, competing at our level at least, and I don’t care if they’re all from Ghana.
