RE: On this day - Andrew B - 01-10-2022

Saturday 1st October 2011.

Whitchurch United 0 - 2 Gloucester City.  (FA Cup, 2nd Qualifying Round).

More FA Cup action on this date. Gloucester City had a potential banana skin tie at Whitchurch. If I remember correctly, the supporters coach parked next to the ground, in a School.
A crowd of 400 watched this cup tie, as City went onto win 2 - 0. Darren Edwards and Will Morford scoring the goals, to put Gloucester through to the next round.

Seen Will Morford yesterday in Upton st Lenard's post office.

Remember that game well, unusually warm October day and the coach driver missing the turning. Some Southampton lads tried to cause bother behind the goal as well

Gloucester City 0 - 1 Cinderford Town.  (FA Cup, 2nd Qualifying Round).

Gloucester City were in FA Cup action on this date. City were hosting fellow Gloucestershire team Cinderford Town. The Meadow Park crowd of 921, were to see Gloucester get beat 1 - 0, by the team from the Forest of Dean.
This was in the 1995/96 season, I believe that Cinderford went onto have a Fantastic FA Cup Run. I think Tim Harris was Cinderford's Manager at the time? Cinderford got to the FA Cup 2nd Round Proper? I think they played Gravesend and Northfleet in this Round? Believe that Gravesend beat Cinderford in a Replay. If Cinderford had Won this Match, they would have been away to Aston Villa in the 3rd Round Proper.

This was my first match! Amazed I went back after that. Remember my mate's dad had a very sought after spare ticket to one of Cinderford's matches in the proper rounds which he proudly offered to me, my response was "no thanks, I'm going down Gloucester City". He wasn't expecting that...

RE: On this day - Andrew B - 03-10-2022

3rd October 2009.

Ilkeston Town 0 - 0 Gloucester City.  (Blue Square North).

The 2009/10 season, was our first season in the National League North. On this date, the team travelled to Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire? to face Ilkeston Town. The name of the ground escapes me, it was quite unique in that it had a seated stand positioned in one corner of the ground. I believe this stand had a Clocktower, which looked pretty good.
A crowd of 437 watched the 0 - 0 draw. I think Paul Peshcisolido, (Sorry, terrible attempt at spelling) Karen Brady's Husband, was sat in the Stand. I think he was the Manager of Burton Albion or somebody at the time.

RE: On this day - Neil - 03-10-2022

I remember this. I missed a chunk of the first half because I had a jippy tummy and spent most of it on the shitter.

RE: On this day - Andrew B - 06-10-2022

Tuesday 6th October 2020.

Gloucester City 3 - 1 Kettering Town.  (Vanarama North).

This was the First League game of the 2020/21 season. The season, delayed due to the Pandemic, saw us make our Return back to Gloucester, after 13 years in exile. Our game against Kettering at our New Meadow Park ground, was played behind closed doors.
City marked there return to Gloucester with a 3 - 1 win. Alex Whittle scored the first ever league goal back at Gloucester. The other goals were scored by Matt McClure and Bailey-Nicholls.

RE: On this day - SHANDY LOVE MACHINE - 06-10-2022

I was privileged to be there. IIRC a Kettering player got sent off on the stroke of half time, and was abusive to his own team, their ability their staff. I doubt he played for them again. He then smashed up the changing room.

At the end of the game I had to act as Liam Daly's bodyguard Smile as opposition players tried to get a reaction from him.
