16th August 1994.
Gloucester City AFC had a home pre friendly on this date. The opponent's that came to Meadow Park, was Premier League Team Everton.
Everton had brought down pretty much there First Team Squad. Anders Limpar, Vinny Samways were involved in this match. Meadow Park had a crowd of 2505, they watched City get a 1 - 1 draw. A good result for City, Karl Bayliss scored to put Gloucester 1 - 0 up. Everton striker Stuart Barlow got the equaliser.
#Two Facts.
1) This was leading up to the 1994/95 season. This season, Everton won the FA Cup, defeating Manchester United. This was the last piece of Silverware that Everton have won. Perhaps they should have more pre season friendlies against us.
2) My Sister came with me to watch this game. Somewhere in the crowd, was her future Husband (an Everton supporter). They met a few years later, working at the same Company.

We have to earn their support both on and off the pitch, although, they'll come to watch Anders Limpar and Vinny Samways.

Absolutely bizarre. I'd love to know how or why we played a friendly after the season had started. Pretty sure we should've been playing a league game on that date.

20 years ago today Lee Smith came of age as a City player. Scored two lovely goals in a 2-0 away win at Taunton.
