I thought League Two looked bad enough.

RE: On this day - Severnside - 20-07-2022

Prefered it when they where Stroud F.C to be honest and playing in Southen Leagues lower division.
I think it will be a struggle in League 1 for a bit, I'm sure Vince will keep bailing them out though but a limit has to be set he's no Russian billionaire.....

RE: On this day - Si Robin - 20-07-2022

They were very lucky in their first Football League season, only escaping the drop by a couple of points. Had Gary Johnson had any nous, we wouldn't have lost to them towards the end of that season which effectively kept them up.

The step up to League One is much bigger than Conference to League 2, and there are more relegation places. Of their signings, only one player would be considered a signing to be impressed by, and they have lost a lot of their title winning team. They've also lost their head coach and replaced him with a man who's previous club's fans weren't too disappointed to see go.

It looks like it could be a struggle for them this season, but they seem like slimy gits who might just be ok.

RE: On this day - Andrew B - 21-07-2022

21st July 1987.

The two Teams that I support, played each other on this date. Gloucester City AFC had a pre season friendly against Arsenal FC, at Meadow Park.
Unfortunately, I was not at this game. I started supporting Arsenal in 1991, and Gloucester City in 1994.
A crowd of over 3,900 were at Meadow Park. Arsenal Manager George Graham brought the First Team to Meadow Park. The likes of, Tony Adams, David O' Leary, Michael Thomas, John Lukic, David Rocastle, New Signing Charlie Nicholas were involved.
Arsenal went onto win the match 6 - 0. I heard that apparently after the match, George Graham complimented the standard of the Meadow Park pitch.

No I haven't. Steve Turk showed me his program that he got from the Match. It was a Testimonial? Sorry the player's name escapes me, Barrie (Surname begins with the letter V)?
