It is amazing to see how totally different C********m Town and Gloucester City's paths went, after that 1 - 1 draw. If only Dale Watkins was not stuck in traffic.
C********m Town, to be fair, have gone on from strength to strength. Steve Cotterill did a brilliant job, won the FA Trophy, won the Vauxhall Conference, Promotion to the Football League. Had previous Promotion to League One, now back in that league again, playing Sunderland, Charlton Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich Town, Wigan Athletic. Whaddon Road has been developed since we faced them in 1997.
GCAFC fortunes since 1997, we got relegated to the Western Division. Chris Burns rebuilt the team with ex GCAFC Youth Team players. Had an FA Trophy run that saw us get to the Quarter Finals. Floods came forcing us to play home games away from Gloucester, for around 13 years. Promotion to the Southern League Premier, then a Play off Final Win, and Promotion to National League North. During exile, had two FA Cup runs to the First Round Proper.
Now back at Gloucester, back at a redeveloped New Meadow Park/TigerTurf Stadium.
Hopefully our paths will cross again in league football, maybe in League Two, maybe playing FGR as well.

I'm going to win the lottery, buy them and get them relegated to the Bristol Downs League division 7.

1st April 2013.

On this date, Gloucester City AFC were away to Solihull Moors, in a Blue Square Bet North fixture. Damson Parkway had a crowd of 209 for this fixture. City went onto win the game 3 - 2, the Gloucester goalscorers were, Danny Andrew, (penalty) Chris Holland and Adam Mann.
If I remember rightly, you had to be a FOOL to have attended this fixture. This was the match that had Arctic like conditions. The cold wind was blowing across the pitch.
 Still, City Won.

That was the game that Penno didn't take his coat. I'd imagine we had a third of that crowd too.

The goal from sykesy was truly amazing, I was just to the right of the goal and it was a shot that just seemed to keep on going, like it was floating. Sometimes you don't appreciate just how good a player is until they stop playing or move away.
Not the biggest player, not the most powerful but no one else seemingly could score a goal quite like that.

2008, we won 3-1 against Merthyr at FGR. I took this photo following Will Morford's goal from the other end of the pitch Wink

3rd April 2001.

Gloucester City had a home match against Atherstone United. This was a Dr Martens League Western Division fixture, where Meadow Park had a crowd of 149.
The supporters were treated to an entertaining match, City striker Karl Bayliss scored a hatrick.
Unfortunately for the hatrick hero, Atherstone won the game 4 - 3.
