Just three years earlier we were competing with top non-league sides. Big drop that.
Mark Smith could handle Alan Shearer but he couldn't handle Adie Mings so feigned injury to get him sent off

Stevenage Borough weren't exactly the most popular team that season. Did it stem from the Newcastle United FA Cup tie? At Stevenages ground, were the away fans given cold hot dogs? I think I heard that in the away team dressing room, the showers had cold water? Believe that C********m played them in the Vauxhall Conference that season. Heard that C********m were wishing us good luck. C********m weren't too keen on them either.
I can remember feeling frustrated during the replay, standing in the T-End. The Stevenage goalkeeper went down like he had been shot, and no player was by him. Then there was timewasting.
After the replay, I had to drive to Ross as I was working nights that week.

What an evening that was. Got out of sixth form early to get the coach.
Watching the video back, how bad does Coxy make their defence look?? Does the keeper call for the first one? Weird the defender hurdles the ball.
Also, refreshing to hear opposition commentators give us some credit. Not sure that's happened in the 19 years since.

Oh what a day that was - apart from the goals there was also a quite magnificent save from Matty Bath as well. Travelled up on the coach sat with Don King. I remember after the game we were all crowded in the Southport bar; when our lads walked in victorious. The noise and singing was just amazing. The smile on Kinger's face that night was priceless. The Gaffer put together a very special side.

Joe's point about the Southport Commentator giving us Credit. In the time that we have been in National League North/South, have not heard many opposition managers give us Credit. Even if we win 3 - 0 away from home.
Stable Lads comment about the Gaffer putting together a very Special side. Like I have mentioned before, I think that Chris Burns was the catalyst to putting us where we are now.

That was Radio Gloucestershire. Colin Gardner gave me the CD ofthe commentary and I put it on the video. Finicky job!

Fair enough. I did think they weren't very scouse. Also, I had the tape/DVD I think at one point and I don't remember commentary, so makes sense it's been added on.
