RE: On this day - Andrew B - 26-12-2021

26th December 1997.

On this Date, we were at The Lawn, playing Forest Green Rovers in a League Match. The previous season, C********m Town were Promoted, and FGR got Promotion to our league.
To be honest, can't remember much about this game. This 'El Glosico' 2' clash attracted a crowd of 1333. Leroy Rosenior was the GCAFC Manager, who was facing Frank Gregan in the opposite Dug-Out.
 City got a 1 - 1 draw, Andy Mainwairing scoring Gloucester's goal.

I was there and the one thing that sticks in my mind is a 50/50 challenge for the ball with Adie Ming's and one of their players of which the noise of control could have been heard as far as C********m.

Loads of Boxing Days games to look bacjk on but todays won't live long in the mind!

RE: On this day - Andrew B - 27-12-2021

27th December 1999.

Our last match of the 1990's was to end on a low. Gloucester City were at St George's Lane playing Worcester City in a Dr Martens League fixture. A crowd of 1609 were at the (now demolished) ground, to watch Gloucester come off second best. We lost 4 - 0, which contributed to us being relegated that season.
I was unfortunately unable to attend this game, as I was at a Wedding. Strangely enough, not too far from Worcester.

Brian Hughes played himself alongside Steve Fergusson at centre-back. We never had a chance.

I've got a recollection that we were very short on numbers (and money!) leaving Brian with few options.  What great player Steve Fergusson was though

28th December 2015. A last minute winner from Harry Williams at Telford. Just brilliant. Great player, could still do a job for us.

RE: On this day - Severnside - 28-12-2021

To be honest all the front players apart from Hulbert have been a disappointment this season, surely Danny will be back if Hulbert is called back. DJW a no show and MMc isn't the same player without Asante along side, injuries and suspensions have played its part but defence now seems sorted.

I actually thought we looked marginally better when DNW came on. Marginally being the operative word mind. For whatever reason he's not had a lot of game time so far so it's hard to judge him completely yet. I'd like to see him get a run in the team as we do need a presence up there. We might then see if he is the answer or not.
